There have been all kinds of remixes of Thom Yorke songs floating around since this album dropped almost two and a half years ago. A compilation of several of the remixes was released in Japan this year. It may be old news, but I just thought I would put you on to some of these tracks as they peaked my interest when I saw it. After all the Radiohead hysteria this year, it makes these solo tracks seem even better.
Speaking of Burial, he did that blog post in October saying there would be a new album soon. We are looking forward to that possible release in ‘09. Til then how about some more remixes?
The electronic avant-garde group known as Gang Gang Dance is releasing a new album this week called Saint Dymphna. It sports some intricate programming and production that is dynamic in rhythm and execution, ranging from trip-hop to tranquil ambience. Much of the record very danceable while some tracks, such as Afoot, focus more on an abstract, trance-like atmosphere. House Jam comes in directly afterward to deliver a more compromised feel, bridging the gap between coherency and fantasy, to create a relate able track that is both grooving and soothing. The album finishes with the dissonant and unique sounds that give it such a crazy personality throughout. This is a great listen for lovers of epically done surrealism. The concept of song is certainly challenged, as it plays more like one gigantic movement than it does a collection of songs. The group is currently touring through at least November, so check them. Tour dates and other delectable info on their Myspace.
If I was Panda Bear I would be feeling pretty damn good about myself. Besides the fact that he’s an awesome musician who is in a sweet band, has a bad ass alias, and an illllll solo album; his track Comfy in Nautica has been remixed and used in remixes by two of the biggest names in indie hip hop right now.
We posted Diplo’s remix of Santogold’s Lights Out that features Comfy in Nautica’s powerful, driving choir tones under Santi’s vocals to create the sexiest noise combination of the summer.
Awhile back, Spank Rock’s spinster XXXChange released a dope remix of Comfy in Nautica that hasn’t left my iPod’s Recently Played songs since I obtained it
