Tiesto has been named the world’s best DJ on several occasions by readers of DJ Magazine. He released a new album this year that has had the blog world abuzz. Now he’s offering up a remix competition on Beatport for his track Knock You Out featuring Emily Haines of Metric. Tiesto will be spinning in Minneapolis on October 30 at Epic.

Metric made a stop in Minneapolis on Saturday night fresh off the heels of the release of their new album Fantasies. The band played a good mixture of tunes from their previous albums and most current. Check out the slideshow of the night below:

Can’t really say how happy we are to see some new Metric material. Emily Haines is one of the most talented females in music. Her youthful vocals mixed with insightful, image filled lyrics make listening to the group’s material an ever satisfying experience.

Metric’s new album Fantasies is out April 14, but is available for pre-order at iLoveMetric

The album features my favorite track thus far from the group titled Gimme Sympathy. I first heard the song on Spin Magazine’s web video of Coachella ‘08. The acoustic version is beautiful in its timid nostalgia, while the full band version (available for stream on the band’s MYSPACE) takes on a completely different tone in its infectious indie rock mold.

If you pre-order the album, you can buy a package that includes the album and art from a graffiti collective called Hollywood in Cambodia from Buenos Aires who Haines was exposed to when she went on a writing trip.
