Today was a national day of action against racism and facism. As a part of one of these actions, local emcee Philthy performed at the Northstar Center (a radical community space) on the eastside of Lansing, MI. Here he is with one of his songs:
There will also be a protest at the steps of the capital building in downtown Lansing on August 2nd @ 5pm. The community will come together to voice its opposition to legislation proposed by Rep. Kim Meltzer that mirrors Arizona’s racist SB1070, which would essentially legalize racial profiling:

Lesser Knowns is an ATF segment that features brilliant artsists hiding creepily in the crevices of the internet. Shameless self-promoters shouldn’t get all the hype! Those out there making their music for the sake of making it (and not just for the sake of “making it”) should be heard too. They’re like the indie Indie musicians, I guess.
Thus, you should know Birdfingers. It’s primarily the solo project of Bennett Young, from Battle Creek, MI. He plays occasionally in the Kalamazoo area, but it’s hard to catch him in the act. Here’s his “Waiting to Celebrate” in youtube form:
