Joseph Gordon-Levitt’s Outstanding Turn as SNL Host

Joseph Gordon-Levitt has proven himself to be an acting talent far beyond his years time and again. He spent most of his adolescence on our TVs in 3rd Rock from the Sun. (if you want to go back even further remember this movie?) He acted steady through the run of the NBC show and after, but his first stand-out role was his take as a sharp-tongued outcast in the 2005 indie classic Brick.

Since that time, the 28-year-old actor has been busy building a healthy resume, which now features a breakout performance in last Summer’s 500 Days of Summer and a role in the recent blockbuster G.I. Joe. With the buzz surrounding his current work, Gordon-Levitt was thankfully given the nod as host of Saturday Night Live this past weekend. It was one of the most refreshingly genuine performances I’ve ever seen. His stage presence is out of this world. Take a look at his opening monologue, which shows the host breakout in a showstopping rendition of Singing in the Rain’s Make ‘Em Laugh:
