Santigold made her first visit to Minneapolis since becoming an indie sensation in 2008. Her show was energetic with a full backing band and two back-up dancers. David Byrne whose level of cool has risen exponentially for 30+ years is Fader’s new cover choice for their Icon Issue. Byrne is still busy scouring the earth on his Everything That Happens tour in support of his newest album with Brian Eno Everything That Happens Will Happen Today; going to Europe for the majority of the summer.

Even with all this, Byrne still had time to release a Live EP in benefit for Amnesty International. The four-track album features the songs Strange Overtones, Help Me Somebody, One Fine Day, and I Feel My Stuff from the new album. Soundset ‘09 dawned over Canterbury Park in Shakopee, MN on Sunday. The festival featured the best hip hop artists of Rhymesayers Entertainment and the Midwest.  In its second year Soundset may have cemented its spot as a yearly mainstay.

WALE stopped through Minneapolis last weekend on the last leg of his ADD tour. The Washington D.C. based MC is preparing to release a new mixtape titled Back to the Feature as well as his debut album on Allido/Interscope Records later this summer.
