Passion Pit – The Reeling

The first single from Passion Pit’s new album Manners is titled The Reeling. It features New York Children’s choir PS 22 (watch video below). The single follows the obscure sounds of their single Sleephead, but has a more widespread appeal.

Metric – Gimme Sympathy (Music Video + Behind the Scenes)
Metric released the video for their single Gimme Sympathy earlier this week. The video follows lead singer Emily Haines through a live performance of the song as she moves from instrument to instrument. Watch the video below to see how it was made. The video was shot in one take, which makes it that much more impressive.

Live:: Alice Russell | Cedar Cultural Center | Minneapolis, MN [03.14.09]

Alice Russell brought her unbelievably powerful pipes along with her British soul to the Cedar Cultural Center on Saturday night. Her set featured a full backing band and showed off her absurd vocal power and range. The Cedar catered to the people’s desire to move to her beat as they opened up the center of the auditorium for standing/dancing.
Her live rendition of The White Stripe’s Seven Nation Army will put you on your arse.

Soundset ‘09 Announces First Round Lineup

The Midwest hip-hop festival, Soundset 09, has moved off the burning asphalt of Minneapolis’ Metrodome parking lot, and onto the lush grass of Canterbury Park (Shakopee, MN), and judging by the first round of artists it’s going to be just as hot. The festival is May 24, 2009, but locals get the jump, as Rhymesayers Entertainment is offering presale tickets and a FREE screen printed festival poster to the first 100 tickets sold (which are probably sold out as I type) at Fifth Element in Minneapolis. Check the release for more presale info.
Confirmed Main-Stage Artists (more to come):
Atmosphere
MF Doom
Brother Ali
Sage Francis with B. Dolan
Immortal Technique
P.O.S
El P featuring Mr. Dibbs
