Review: The Asteroids Galaxy Tour – Around the Bend
OK…usually being featured in an Ipod commercial isn’t necessarily a selling point for me. It just means I hear your song all the time and end up coveting another product I can’t afford and don’t need. But…The Asteroids Galaxy Tour’s “Around the Bend” – currently featured in the Ipod Touch commercial – is an impossibly sunny, irresistible piece of pop music. Damn you, you crafty Scandinavians! You give us The Concretes, Peter, Bjorn & John, and IKEA. Of course you also give us Ace of Base, which is not a point in your favor…
TAGT definitely belongs in the category of blessings, not curses, from Scandinavia. This Danish duo makes perfect pop, complete with strings, horns, and great girl vocals. They wouldn’t be out of place in a 60s movie soundtrack, yet they bring an entirely fresh and modern sensibility to their music. The debut three-song EP, Around the Bend, is well worth your time.
