Telefon Tel Aviv Prep First Album in Five Years // Announce Tour

In the music industry, five years can feel like a lifetime, but for Telefon Tel Aviv it was just the amount of time the duo needed to release their third full length album, Immolate Yourself.  Recently signing to BPitch Control, Joshua Eustis and Charles Cooper are now set to drop their newest LP January 20, 2009.  Having received their newest single, Helen of Troy, it is apparent that five years was also just the amount of time for the groups sound to take a different direction.

Helen of Troy is a departure from the downtempo beats and sometimes ambient sound of Telefon Tel Aviv in years past.  The track feels more accessible, putting a buzzing vintage synth sound ahead of their usual Rhodes electric piano.  If this track is any indication of where the album will be headed, it’s likely that the complexities of their drum programing and smooth female vocal appearances will be replaced with a more straight forward approach.

In support for their upcoming release, Telefon Tel Aviv will be hitting the road with the minimal-man of many aliases, Matthew Dear.  Read on for dates and more…
