The freshest, silliest, most entertaining Baltimore club djs right now hail from Finland. WTF? These guys have been murdering the turntables with tight party mixes available via podcast, and now Turntable Lab’s been lucky enough to get their mitts on some digital only releases.
This four-song EP proves that these guys can make a dancefloor crowd-pleaser out of pretty much any song they want. The EP leads off with “San Fran” wherein the Finnish boys spindle, fold, and mutilate the hippy-dippy mainstay “San Francisco (Be Sure to Wear Flowers in Your Hair). After that, they move on to contort vocoder-loving top 40 mainstay T-Pain’s “Dancefloor.” “Boy Angles” takes some generic bmore hype sounds and places them over a tinny electro beat that’s straight out of the early 90s. Finally, “Starlyte” robs Stardust blind as Top Billin steals all the massiveness from “Music Sounds Better with You” for its very own loopy recreation.
Other releases have found Top Billin thieving from Guns and Roses, Dire Straits, and Cyndi Lauper. If these guys had less skill on the tables, they’d be a novelty act. Instead, they keep everything so tight, even when they’re using pure cheez as their source material.

You can grab a great free mix from Top Billin over at XLR8R’s website. That mix combines such craziness as Bounty Killer, the Police, and Lionel Richie in one mix. But don’t sleep—XLR8R doesn’t leave up their mixes forever.
